Almost Done

Here are some pictures of Soph's ALMOST done bedroom. Her bedroom transformation was less than $250. Pretty dang good considering it was white and totally lame before. I was hoping to have it done this week. But life is unpredictable with two little kiddos, and call me crazy but the zoo sounds wayyyyy better than painting molding this afternoon. Go figure. First, here is a pic of the kiddos. Their faces have been missing from the blog for awhile. Unfortunatley this is the best one I could get...

This is a pic from the doorway into her room. Where you see the stripes stop I am putting up 1 1/2 inch white molding. That is my plan for this next week, hopefully.
I scored all her bedding, bumper pad, and curtains at goodwill for $10. Pretty dang good considering those sets are around $200 new at Babies 'R Us. And yes, the molding around the floor is still natural wood. I need to paint that too. Gah.
The little chair came for Fred Meyer. It was regulary $100. I picked it up on clearance for $30. Suhweet. I bought the little ballerina pictures above the chair at a garage sale yesterday for $5.
Duvet cover was another Goodwill score for $14.99. The detail on it is amazing. The big pillows my Madre picked up at homegoods for $10. The modge podge'd mirrors are an ikea transformation. My sister Dana taught me that one ;) Can't beat $2.99.
I already told you about the little table and the letters. Pretty happy with how both of those turned out. The mobile was $15 at my favorite resale shop. The rug was a Target find. The storage baskets are from Storables.

The hutch was a craigslist score for $50. Ha! The crib was a garage sale for $20? I don't remember, my Mom bought that one.

The fairies are actually from my bedroom as a child, along with the music globe :) My mom also has the mobile that she made me when I was a baby that will be added above the changing pad.

A few finishing touches, and of course the molding both around the room where the stripes end, and around the floor and I will be done!

Sophie Room Sneak Peek

I scored this nightstand on craigslist for $10; a can of spray paint, a new nob, and some scrapbook paper (modge podge) later it is a perfect fit for Soph's room.
BEFORE:

AFTER:
I picked up the wood letters while at Craft Warehouse a few weekends ago. I decided to spray paint them the same color as the nightstand. Then I added the same scrapbook paper (modge podge) and a few embellishments. I have one more project still to do using the same paper.

Oh, and do you notice the stripes?? My AHHH-MAYY-ZINGG!!! hubby taped those and I painted them all around the room. You'll just have to wait to see how those turned out!

Stay tuned for the finished project. Probably by the end of the week.

Next Up: Leify's Room

It's was a smiley day for Sophie today.

She is becoming more and more aware of her surroundings. She is cooing up a storm and starting to talk to her little toys. She loves to talk to me, and expecially loves it when Leif sings to her. Today we just took it easy and stayed home...I took these pictures while she was laying on our bed while Leify was busy with his sticker book. He likes to put them on his "forefed".

Back to Crafting

I made these for my cousin Kelly's baby Raegan before Sophie was born.

I sewed yesterday for this first time since her arrival. Goodness, I have missed it. I am not going to share what I've done though until they are finished ;) Suprises for my new nephews!!

Sophie's 2 Months

I took Sophie to her 2 month well baby check up yesterday. It is hard to believe that 2 months have already gone by. She is still a sleepy baby, she will sleep between 5 and 6 hours at night, sometimes I wonder if she is real. I totally had myself prepared for a screaming baby who never slept. Instead I got one I had to wake up to feed.

She has started smiling and cooing...my absolute favorite! She loves to look at Leify, and is doing fairly well holding her head up. She wakes me up in the morning with sweet little coo's to her pooh mobile.

She was in the 50th percentile straight across....Weight at 10lbs 7oz, Height at 22 1/2 inches, I can't remember what her head circumference was but I know she was in the 50th.

Christmas 2009

Christmas this year was quiet! We enjoyed the morning as a small little family at home and opened presents. We made the mistake of putting a matchbox car in Leify's stocking and he of course opened that first...he didn't care about anything else after that! If only he would be that easy to please for the rest of his Christmases at home! .99 cents is easy!
We headed into my parents later that day and enjoyed some awesome food! That is a given though, my Mom couldn't make something gross if her life depended on it. We exchanged gifts and played cards.
Christmas had a golf theme this year, I was the only person there who didn't get something golf related. Leif is adamant that I golf with him though, so I am sure I will get outfitted in the near future ;)

Blessing Day

Anna Sophia was given a name and blessing today at church. Leif gave her an absolutely beautiful blessing. He amazes me sometimes with his sincerity, he has such an overwhelming love for his children. Sophie is such a gorgeous and sweet baby, her temperament is a lot like Leify. Both of them are very quiet, but extremely aware of their surroundings and a little particular in what they do and do not like.
Oh, and if you didn't notice, she looks exactly like her Daddy! I just can' t compete with the Hasselblad DNA.
Sophie is gaining weight like a champ, and has a sleep schedule pretty much mapped out. She goes to bed around 8 or 9 and sleeps until about 330am eats, goes right back to sleep and then is up for the morning around 7. I can't complain; she has been a peach.
Her personality is starting to emerge, she is always smiley around 6 o'clock at night. Leify loves to get down on her play mat with her when she is having tummy time, and man, she loves him! He always gets big smiles and occasionally she even coos at him.
We feel so blessed to be the parents of these two beautiful little souls. They teach me so much, and continually improve me as an individual. I am so grateful that Heavenly Father has entrusted me with such an important task as raising these children.
